Chin liposuction
The procedure that removes excess fatty tissue under the chin.
When is surgical procedure required?
Liposuction is a procedure that can help sculpt the body by removing excess fat from specific areas that have not responded to diet and exercise. Procedure minimizes the appearance of a double chin and improves the chin’s contour.
What does the surgery include?
The surgeon makes a small incision and a solution is passed into the treatment area. This solution helps to break down the fat cells which are then removed through a narrow tube by vacuum. The procedure takes 1 to 2 hours, performed under general or local anaesthesia with intravenous sedation.
How to get prepared?
The day before surgery, a patient should eat light food and stop smoking and drinking alcohol and not take anything orally after a night’s sleep. The patient usually returns to work after 5 to 14 days. More strenuous activity may be resumed after 2 to 4 weeks. Full recovery from swelling and bruising may take 1 to 6 months depending upon the amount of fat that is removed and the areas that were treated.
Related tests and examinations:
Physical examination and tests indicated by the anaesthesiologist (laboratory tests, ECG, heart and lung X-ray scan, physical examination by another specialist) should be performed after the examination by a plastic surgeon.
