Hydrocele surgery
The procedure is also known as the surgery to correct the swelling of the scrotum.
Why would you need the procedure?
Hydrocele is a collection of fluid in testicular membranes which causes the scrotal swelling.
When would you need the procedure?
The procedure would be indicated if a scrotal swelling causes discomforts and pains or other difficulties during everyday activities.
What does the procedure include?
The hydrocele surgery is performed under regional or general anaesthesia. The testicular membranes are approached through a scrotal incision and a fluid collection is drained, followed by a reduction of the membranes.
How to get prepared?
A hygienic preparation of the penis and scrotum should be done before the surgery. Day before surgery a patient should eat light food and stop smoking and drinking alcohol and not take anything orally after a night’s sleep.

Physical examination by an urologist. Physical examination and tests indicated by the anaesthesiologist (laboratory tests, ECG, heart and lung X-ray scan, physical examination by other specialist) should be performed.
