Renal cyst puncture
The procedure is also known as the fluid drainage of the renal cyst.
Why would you need the procedure?
Renal cysts are round or oval formations which collect fluid. They can occur in one of the both of the kidneys, individually or in clusters and can cause dull upper abdominal or lower back pain and fever.
When would you need the procedure?
In larger cystic formations which cause discomforts, the treatment includes percutaneous fluid drainage from a cyst by using special needles.
What does the procedure include?
A cyst is punctured by a needle under ultrasound guidance and local anaesthesia.
How to get prepared?
Skin disinfection is to be performed before the procedure.
