Spermatocele surgery
The procedure is also known as the removal of spermatic cyst or sac.
When is the surgical procedure required?
Spermatocele is a cyst attached to the epididymis that contains sperm. The procedure is performed when an increase in spermatocele causes discomfort and pain or interferes with daily activities.
What does the surgery include?
The spermatocele surgery is performed under regional or general anaesthesia. The testicular membranes are approached through a scrotal incision. The spermatocele is separated from the epididymis and removed. The testis is returned to the scrotum.
How to get prepared?
A hygienic preparation of the penis and scrotum should be done before the surgery. Day before surgery a patient should eat light food and stop smoking and drinking alcohol and not take anything orally after a night’s sleep.
Related tests and examinations:
Physical examination by an urologist. Physical examination and laboratory tests indicated by the anaesthesiologist should be performed.
